Tibbetts Marsh Hike

Hike%20around%20Tibbetts%20Marsh%20001[1]

Today Evergreen Hiking Club members Mike, Vickie, Jim, new inductee, Sue, and I (Mary) started our hike from Anti-Aircraft Peak Trailhead.  We planned a short hike around Tibbetts Marsh covering a portion of the route uncharted before.  We discussed the barbecue dinner being held tonight at Jim and Vickie's and planned what we each would bring.  Along the way we met Ellen, a young woman hiking this trail for the first time.  Ellen joined our group, hiked the rest of the route with us, and kindly volunteered to take our group picture, one of which we insisted include her.  The hike took a little over an hour and we travelled 2 miles.   It was a very pleasant and enjoyable morning outing.

Sky Country to Doughty Falls

Mary wrote:

Today we began a momentous hike.   Vickie, Jim, Mike, and Mary (myself) started from Sky Country Trailhead with our destination Doughty Falls and Long View Peak.  We all noted starting out the unusually warm temperature for the vigorous and beautiful hike ahead.  We were not disappointed.  The view was fantastic with the sun filtering through the trees and the steep drop-offs visible below us.   After passing the Falls and the Peak, Mary began to notice the heat and began to feel hot and tired.  Everyone slowed down while she rested in the shade, took off some of her garments, and drank everyone's water.   Cautiously continuing on we soon completed the loop and Mary felt better at the slower pace.  Our hike took 3 hours and 50 minutes and we travelled for 5 miles.  It was a great hike although Mary pledged to pack more water bottles for Mike to carry next time.
