Today our hiking club went on a beautiful and invigorating hike. Jim, Mike, and Mary met up with Gail, Ruthie and Jeannie at the Cougar Mountain Red Town Trailhead. After a couple mistaken conclusions that the other car was late, we discovered each other parked in the same parking lot at different ends.
We set off about 9:45 am for a delightful hike on the Coal Creek Trail starting across the street from the trailhead. Heading downhill a windy wooded path we noted the enchanted surroundings with the sun filtering through the trees and foliage. We reached the lower trailhead on Coal Creek Pkwy after 3.2 miles. After a brief rest we climbed back up 3.1 miles to our starting point making the total hike 6.3 miles after an adjusted total showed up on Jimmy's mileage device. It was a great hike and a great day!
Since Jeannie and Ruthie successfully completed this initiation hike the members voted and they were inducted into the Erwin Evergreen Hiking Club.
